PURPOSES OF CLOTHING.
Clothing are the things people wear with the purpose of covering their body. Attire is the other name for defining clothing and it is fiber and textile worn on the body. Clothing is mainly meant for humans and different human cultures wear different types of clothing. The amount and type of clothing worn is determined by ones’ body type, gender, social and environmental conditions.
Clothing helps in protecting the body against severe weather conditions by covering the body. They also guarantee safety during activities like hiking and cooking. The most common types of physical clothing materials include; fabric, denim, leather and fur.
The many kinds of clothing has been brought about by the fact that clothing options have increased tremendously, throughout the years. Every event requires different clothing options as well as choices, depending on culture and beliefs.
Clothing styles also vary depending on the where you are, who you are and the different purposes you intend to fulfill. It is obvious, that professional attire should be official but clothing for travel, exercise wear, beachwear and protection apparel should not be. Factors establishing one’s selection of apparel are religious and cultural beliefs.
Clothing also makes you feel more attractive and communicate with others. Other reasons as to why people wear clothes include; comfort and protection, physical, physiological and social reasons. Clothes also helps you to identify with people by expressing your personality and improves your self-esteem.
Each person has their basic human needs. Meeting these needs is what gives contentment and enjoyment in life. One of the primary human need is clothing. Having a better understanding of clothing, helps you better know yourself and others as well.
Harsh climatic conditions like the rain, snow, wind, cold and weather can quickly affect us when the skin is bare and exposed. We can get injured while working or during games and sports and that’s why we need clothing. Clothing helps us become more comfortable as it absorbs sweat, prevents chills and prevents our bodies from unintentional burns and coarse surfaces. Putting on the right clothes, can insulate your body against unusually high or low temperatures.
People living in severely cold environments, keep warm by wearing clothing made from fur. These people stay warm because the fur catches warmth from their bodies and forms an insulation of heat. People living in sweltering climate, such as desert nomads keep the harmful hot away, by covering up with long flowing robes and head scarfs. They keep cooler by wearing lighter clothes.
People wear some clothes like bullet-proof vests for safety reasons and to prevent accidents from happening. For safety purposes, fire-fighters, police officers, and road workers wear particular clothes.
